If your washing machine is not draining, spinning slowly, or making strange noises, it may need to be repaired. A broken belt can cause the machine to malfunction, but other issues can include a clogged drain or dirty water filters.
In order to determine the extent of the problem and repair it accordingly, follow these steps:
- Unplug the washing machine and allow it to cool down.
- Inspect the sewage disposal hose if present. If it appears damaged or kinked, replace it as needed.
- Check for any obstructions in the drainage system (hoses, clogs) and clear them if necessary using a plunger or snake.
- Examine the water filter for blockages and replace as needed if necessary.
- Spin the washer by hand several times to loosen any debris that may be lodged in the spinning blades or Pump motor. Use a vacuum cleaner to suction onto any areas that seem particularly blocked.
- Pour about 1 inch of clean water into the washer tub and activate the machine by pressing the start/stop buttons on a front panel once the water has started flowing into the tub (if the machine does not have start/stop buttons, check the owner’s manual). Wait until the water stops flowing then turn off the power at the breaker box. Do NOT operate the machine while water is still flowing!
There are three main types of washing machine repairs in Sharjah:
- A broken wire that needs to be replaced. This is the most common type of repair, and requires no special tools or expertise. The washing machine will start and run smoothly once the replacement wire is installed.
- A damaged motor. If the motor is damaged, it will not spin and the washing machine will not function. In this case, a technician may need to remove the entire washer and dryer unit in order to fix the problem. This type of repair can be quite costly and requires advanced skills and equipment.
- A blocked drain. If water cannot flow through the drainage system, it can become trapped inside the washer, causing significant damage. In this situation, a technician may need to remove parts of the washer in order to clear the blockage and restore proper functionality.
