There are three main types of washing machines: front loaders, top loaders, and stacked washers. Front-loaders are the most popular type. They have a door that opens at the front of the machine. You put the clothes in a basket on top of the machine and press a button to start it. Top loaders have a door that opens at the top of the machine. You put the clothes in a large drum on top of the machine and press a button to start it. Stacked washers have two or more drums connected by tubes. You fill one drum with clothes and press a button to start it. Then you fill another drum with water and press a button to start it filling with water.
A washing machine is composed of five main parts: the agitator, the drum, the water inlet and outlet, the pump, and the motor. When one of these parts wears out or breaks down, it can cause major problems with your machine. Here’s a look at each part and what can happen if it fails.
The Agitator
The agitator is probably the part that gets the most wear and tear during normal use. It’s responsible for stirring up the water so that it can clean clothes. If the agitator becomes worn down or broken, it won’t be able to do its job properly, which will lead to poor laundry performance.
The Drum
The drum is usually where dirty clothes go when you put them into a washing machine. It contains all of the detergent and other chemicals needed to get your clothes clean. If the drum becomes worn down or defective, it won’t be able to trap as much dirt and debris as it should, which will lead to increased laundry costs and decreased performance.
The Water Inlet and Outlet
These are responsible for connecting your washing machine to water source (usually a municipal line) and sending water into the drum to start cleaning clothes. If they become cracked or corroded, this could lead to leaks or flooding in your machine – not something you want happening while you’re trying to wash some dirty laundry!
The Pump
The pump is responsible for moving water through the machine and up to the agitator. If it becomes worn down or defective, it won’t be able to push enough water through the machine to get your clothes clean. This could lead to decreased performance and increased laundry costs.
The Motor
The motor is responsible for powering the washing machine and everything else – from turning the drum and agitator to pulling the water through the pump. If it becomes damaged, this could lead to difficulties starting your machine or even complete failure.
